Why am I sick?

Why am I ill? | Alexandra Kind

Illness occupies many of us. Especially when one is ill oneself or practises a healing profession. Otherwise, as long as you and your family are well, you usually don't worry about "being sick".

What does "being ill" actually mean?

Sickness is a state of not being healthy at the moment. If you are not healthy, you are not in your centre. The task is to find this centre again.

Is being ill something to be afraid of? Is it something annoying or bothersome that should be eliminated as soon as possible, or is it something good/meaningful?

Ultimately, it depends on the perspective: Sometimes it's practical to be sick and stay in bed for a few days. Sometimes it's annoying because you still have so much to do and the illness is very inconvenient. But being sick is not a bad thing.

When I am sick, I have time for myself; and above all, I have time to ask myself the following question: Am I on the right path? Most of the time, one is not quite on the right path when one becomes ill - and this is what our soul wants to tell us. The reasons can be manifold, and nothing is to be generalised here, but if I am able to find out why I have become ill, and if I am also able to change my behaviour, then the energetic basis for my illness is no longer there, there is no more breeding ground for it, so to speak. If I have understood this reason and dissolved the breeding ground or the blockage, I have grown through my illness and, in retrospect, am happier than before. So the illness has served me.

That is not easy to understand when one is very ill - I admit that, and I understand that very well. There can of course be serious cases where the soul, for whatever reason, has decided that the person will be ill or disabled for life. Thank God, these are rather exceptions, but such cases can also be looked at in the same way. Perhaps the soul grows as a result of the person being ill for a lifetime - who knows? In such cases - as well as in the case of more serious illnesses - the first thing to do is to accept and embrace one's condition. That is the only way to achieve improvement. If you fight it, it usually gets worse. The important thing is not to fight the disease, but to understand it.

When you "understand" your illness and have changed your life or attitudes, you heal faster.

And now comes the tip to help you understand your illness. Take a piece of paper and write down the following questions: Why am I ill? What should I learn from it? What can I do to get well again? Don't think, but try to write an answer - just as it comes to your mind. This may take a little practice, but if you do this a few times, you will get answers. This is a way of consulting your subconscious. You will always gain insights from such exercises, and you get to know yourself - and your soul.

When you are able to accept your illness and say: "Okay, you are there and there is a reason for it. I put you on. If I change something about myself, you don't necessarily have to stay with me" - then one is able to grow, to accept one's situation as it is and to initiate the improvements that our soul or God expects of us. Once you have done this or adjusted your path or mindset, healing can happen.
